Singapore announces new Marina Bay attraction

Singapore’s Marina Bay will gain a new attraction, the Wetlands by the Bay, which aims to become a world-class waterfront experience.

The Singapore Ministry of National Development announced that its Gardens by the Bay development would be expanded to include the new experience, which will include a wetland restoration project, a canopy boardwalk, event venues and a museum.

The development area is enveloped by the Kingfisher Wetland, which will be restored with more than 600 mangroves and coastal plants, tripling the current collection at the wetland.

A cantilevered canopy boardwalk will extend over the Kingfisher Wetlands, offering visitors an elevated, over-water stroll. The boardwalk will also enhance connectivity between Gardens by the Bay train station and key attractions within Bay South Garden.

A new event venue and community space, Glade Lawn, will serve as a dedicated area within Wetlands by the Bay for events and community activities for visitors.

In collaboration with the international art collective, teamLab, a multi-sensory pedal kayak experience will debut at Gardens by the Bay.

The museum will blend physical and projected installations with natural landscapes.

Sections of the Wetlands by the Bay are set to open progressively by the end of 2028.
