Skytrax celebrates high flyers

The Skytrax World Airline Awards were announced on September 23 in London. 

The winners were selected based on a 2021-2022 survey, which included 14,3 million entries from over 100 nationalities. 

Qatar Airways was voted the World’s Best Airline for a record seventh time, winning the prestigious Airline of the Year 2022 title. The airline took a total of nine awards, including Best Business Class and Best Business Class Lounge Dining. 

Turkish Airlines won the best carrier in Europe title, as well as the best airline in Southern Europe and the World’s Best Business Class Catering awards. 

Ethiopian Airlines received four awards, including Best Airline in Africa for the fifth consecutive year, Best Business Class Airline in Africa for the fourth consecutive year, Best Economy Class Airline in Africa for the fourth consecutive year, as well as Best Business Class Onboard Catering in Africa. 

FlySafair was named the Best Low-Cost Airline in Africa for the second year in a row. 

According to the awards, the world’s top 20 airlines are:

3. Emirates 
4. All Nippon Airways (ANA) 
5. Qantas Airways 
6. Japan Airlines 
7. Turk Hava Yollari (Turkish Airlines) 
8. Air France 
9. Korean Air 
10. Swiss International Air Lines 
11. British Airways 
12. Etihad Airways 
13. China Southern 
14. Hainan Airlines 
15. Lufthansa 
16. Cathay Pacific 
17. KLM 
18. EVA Air 
19. Virgin Atlantic 
20. Vistara
