SpiceJet signs codeshare with Gulf carrier

Emirates and Indian low-cost carrier, SpiceJet, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enter into a reciprocal codeshare agreement.

The agreement is set to open new routes and destinations between India and popular destinations across Africa, America, Europe and the Middle East.

Subject to necessary government approvals, the partnership will add six new destinations to the nine existing cities in India served by Emirates. The six new destinations are: Jaipur, Mangalore, Amritsar, Pune, Calicut and Madurai.

The announcement follows fellow Indian carrier Jet Airways’ statement that it would be suspending all local and international flights after failing to secure emergency funding to continue flying.
