ONE hundred staff members from 30 restaurants at the Randburg Waterfront, a well-known tourist landmark in Johannesburg, donned branded caps and T-shirts to officially kick-start South African Tourism's (Satour) Welcome Campaign.
Ceo of Satour, Moss Mashishi, said the Randburg Waterfront had been targeted for the kick-off of the campaign - which aims to promote friendliness and good service attitudes - after it became the first South African tourist destination to receive the internationally recognised SABS ISO 9002 quality management certification.
Randburg Waterfront's marketing manager, Beverly McKay, told Travel Now that the branded "uniforms" were well received by visitors who had been impressed by the advertisements on television.
According to her, the staff will wear the branded shirts and caps for a month, to continue the awareness.
