SWISS has introduced its Airbus A350-900 on the Zurich-Johannesburg route, replacing the Airbus A340-300 and bringing its new SWISS Senses cabin to South Africa.
The 242-seat A350 offers 12% more capacity than the A340-300, providing 3 388 weekly seats between Johannesburg and Zurich. The aircraft accommodate three passengers in first class, 45 in business, 38 in premium economy and 156 in economy.
The redesigned cabin features private first-class suites, five business-class seating options including suites with closing doors, and upgraded premium economy and economy cabins. Business-class seats offer direct aisle access and fully flat beds, while the new inflight entertainment system supports Bluetooth headphones across all classes.
Johannesburg is among the first destinations to receive SWISS Senses.
The A350-900 offers 25% lower fuel consumption and emissions and a 50% smaller noise footprint than previous-generation aircraft. SWISS plans to operate 10 by early 2030.
