A NUMBER of international television networks have shown interest in screening an hour-long video on the Northern Province's tourist attractions, commissioned by the Northern Province Tourism Board, relates Arrie Horn, marketing officer for the board.
Filming took place in February and the video highlights sites such as the hill of Mapungubwe (where an ancient gold rhino was discovered), the palaeontological site of Makapan's Caves, Lake Fundudzi and the mythical Holy Forest.
Local storytellers and villagers provided interesting anecdotes about the area.
According to Horn, screenings have already been guaranteed on National Geographic and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
"These screenings will be a major contribution to promoting the cultural and heritage resources of our province to the international tourism market," says Horn.
