High-speed train to connect Vegas and California
Brightline West is planning a high-speed rail link between southern California and Las Vegas by 2028, in time for the Los Angeles Summer Olympics.
The 320km/hr electric trains will reduce travel time to about two hours and 10 minutes. Trains will travel from Las Vegas to Rancho Cucamonga, with a stop in Victor Valley.
The Rancho Cucamonga station will integrate with southern California’s Metrolink commuter network, leading to easier connections between Los Angeles and Las Vegas, according to Railway Supply.
Oslo-Malmö rail link restored
Norwegian operator Vy launched a direct summer train between Oslo in Norway and Malmö in southern Sweden on July 14, restoring a cross-border rail link that has been suspended since 2004.
The journey to Malmö takes just over six hours, with two departures every day until August 8. In Malmö, there is a 20-minute transfer before the next train to Copenhagen, giving passengers the option to connect to Copenhagen in about seven hours.
Tourist train links Armenia and Georgia
South Caucasus Railways, in partnership with the Czech tour operator Gepard Express, has launched a new tourist train between Armenia and Georgia.
The tour includes a nine-day route passing through Sevan, Yerevan and Gyumri in Armenia and Tbilisi, Kutaisi and Batumi in Georgia. The first train departed on June 28, according to Tert.am.
