Shanghai-Hangzhou train expands route
China’s government has approved plans to expand high-speed Shanghai-Hangzhou services with a new line.
The 222,8km line will connect Shanghai East to Hangzhou in 40 minutes. A new station is currently under construction near Shanghai’s Pudong Airport.
Both cities are already linked by a high-speed train but the new line will provide a new connection to the airport and cut nearly a third off the current fastest journey.
Other new stops include Fengxian, Shanghai Jinshan, Pinghu City, and Linping. Existing stations at Situan, Jiaxing South, Tongxiang, and Hangzhou West will be upgraded.
The NDRC also approved construction of a 234,5km line in Tibet on the Sichuan-Tibet Railway. The project will initially open with five stations.
New train to Iguazu Falls
Brazil’s Iguazu Falls are now more accessible with a new rail service linking nearby towns to the park entrance, providing tourists with an alternative to buses and taxis.
The trains operate on a regular schedule, accommodating early visitors who want a full day at the Falls or those who prefer an afternoon visit
According to Travelbinger, the train includes comfortable seating and large windows for travellers to enjoy the sights of the surrounding rainforest. Along the route, guides provide brief narrations about the area’s history.
