Trenitalia introduces dynamic pricing

Trenitalia has introduced dynamic pricing on some of its high-speed services, where fares will now fluctuate based on real-time demand.

Peak-time seats will cost more, while off-peak fares will be cheaper, as pricing becomes demand-based. This replaces the old system, which offered a fixed number of cheaper tickets on each service, regardless of day or time.

The new pricing system applies only to Trenitalia’s Frecciarossa, Frecciargento and Frecciabianca services, while fares for Trenitalia’s intercity and regional trains remain regulated, according to Business Travel News Europe.

Amtrak gets luxury carriages

From mid-January, two scenic Amtrak routes will get private luxury carriages provided by new company, Halloway.

Halloway will attach a pair of restored historic railcars to Amtrak’s Coast Starlight route (Los Angeles-Oakland), and the California Zephyr line (Oakland-Denver).

The carriages will feature a sleeper car, with four double bedrooms and one queen-bed master suite, with en suite bathrooms and a wardrobe. The second carriage will be a dome-windowed train car designed for sightseeing, with panoramic views and space for dining.
