Etihad Rail reveals full network

Etihad Rail has unveiled a map of its full passenger rail network, linking major cities and regions across UAE’s seven emirates.

Launching this year, the 900km train will connect 11 cities with stations in Al Sila, Al Dhannah, Al Mirfa, Madinat Zayed, Mezairaa, Al Faya, Dubai, Al Dhaid and Fujairah.

The initial route will run between Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Fujairah with more stops added throughout 2026.

The four stations along this route will be:

  • Mohamed bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi
  • Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai
  • University City in Sharjah
  • Al Hilal in Fujairah

New tourism train for Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan Railways has launched a new train route connecting Ganja, the country’s second-largest city, with the tourism and mountain resort city of Gabala.

The national operator launched the new route on January 16 to promote tourism in the region, known for its ski resorts, cable cars, nature tourism activities and international cultural events, such as the Gabala International Music Festival.

Passengers can board or disembark at stations in Goran, Yevlakh, Laki and Aghdash. The service also offers accessibility from the capital, Baku, via a transfer at Laki station.

The full train journey takes about two hours, one way. The fare is available in four classes: Standard, Standard+, Business, and First Class, with the basic fare costing €2,45 (R47).
