New stops on Paris-Berlin night train
New stops have been added to the new Paris-Berlin night train launching on March 26. These include Aulnoye-Aymeries in France and Mons and Liège in Belgium in addition to the previously-announced Brussels and Hamburg stops.
The service was suspended in December last year after the French government said it would no longer fund the route. However, European Sleeper later said it would revive the route from March.
Services will leave Paris from Gare du Nord at 17h45 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, with stops at Aulnoye-Aymeries, Mons, Bruxelles Midi/Brussel Zuid, Liège-Guillemins, Hamburg Harburg (from July 13), and arrive at Berlin Hauptbahnhof at 09h59 on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Mondays.
The return service will leave Berlin Hauptbahnhof at 18h31 on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays with stops at Hamburg Harburg (from July 13), Liège-Guillemins, Bruxelles Midi/Brussel Zuid, Mons, Aulnoye-Aymeries and arrive at Gare du Nord at 10h45 the following day, according to The Local.
Le Train to operate high-speed Paris service
New French operator, Le Train, plans to expand its services to include Paris as well as western France.
Le Train has signed framework track access contracts with infrastructure manager SNCF to operate open-access high-speed services from Paris to Rennes and Bordeaux.
The operator was set up in 2020 with the objective of providing direct high-speed services between regional cities in western France, with focus initially on services linking Bordeaux with Nantes and Rennes.
However, on certain major routes to Paris, demand has exceeded supply, prompting the expansion to Paris, according to International Railway Journal.
