Turkey reopens to South Africans

Turkish Airlines’ Cape Town office has informed the trade that travellers from South Africa, or those who have been in South Africa in the 14 days prior to travel, may once again enter Turkey.

All passengers arriving in Turkey must have completed a Passenger Locator Form here.

Those wishing to enter Turkey, whether vaccinated or unvaccinated, will require a certificate of a negative result from a PCR test taken in the 72 hours prior to arrival.

Travellers with documentary proof of full vaccination (with a WHO-approved vaccine) completed at least 14 days prior to travel are exempt from quarantine.

Passengers who are unvaccinated or do not have documentary proof of full vaccination, must quarantine for seven days at their place of residence or a declared address.

The quarantine can be terminated early by a negative result from a PCR test taken on the fifth day of quarantine. If the result is positive on the fifth day, the passenger must complete all seven days of quarantine.

Passengers under 12 years of age are exempt from the PCR test requirement.

Passengers between 12 years and 18 years, who are unvaccinated, must undergo a PCR test at their place of residence. If the result is negative, they do not need to quarantine.

Turkish Airlines resumed its South Africa services on December 18, however, until yesterday, South Africans were only permitted to transit in Istanbul and not enter Turkey.
