United Airlines’ non-stop service between New York Newark and Johannesburg ORTIA begins June 5.
The airline has revealed the details around its United CleanPlusSM program, which prioritises health, safety, and a high standard of cleanliness. The cleaning actions that form a part of the program include:
- Disinfecting high-touch areas such as charging stations, counters and seats.
- Providing hand sanitizer stations.
- Promoting social distancing and enhancing cleaning procedures in the United Club.
- Providing individual hand sanitizer wipes for customers.
- Disinfecting high-touch areas, like tray tables and armrests, before boarding.
- Using Ultraviolet C lighting wands to disinfect sensitive components.
- Using electrostatic spraying to disinfect most aircraft before departure.
- Rolling out antimicrobial technology to add an additional layer of disinfectant on board.
- Ensuring aircraft cleaning standards meet or exceed CDC guidelines.
- Using hospital-grade, high-efficiency filters to remove 99,97% of airborne particles.
