TRAVELLERS staying in the
UK for longer than six months
are required to pay a ‘health
surcharge’ when they make
their visa application. The
surcharge must be paid
online before attending the
Visa Application Centre.
They will then be able to
use the National Health
Service (NHS) but will still
need to pay for certain
types of services, including
prescriptions, dental
treatment and eye tests.
Biometric residence permits
should also be presented
when accessing healthcare in
the UK.
Travellers on a visitor
visa do not have to pay the
healthcare surcharge and will
instead pay for any healthcare
received through the NHS.
