The UK Visa and Immigration department has updated its website to show that visitor visas, including standard visitor visa applications, should currently take an average of seven weeks to process (35 working days).
The update warns that some applications may take longer. “We are working hard to process applications to get back to the three-week service standard,” says the visa department.
For those seeking visas for a business trip, meeting, holiday, VFR, or for the purposes of getting married, once the traveller has attended the appointment at the visa application centre, they should get a decision on their visa within three weeks after attending the appointment at the visa application centre.
A reduced number of priority appointments are currently available in South Africa, according to the website.
Transit visa applications are currently taking, on average, six weeks to process. UK Visa and Immigration says for transit visas the traveller should get a decision within three weeks of attending the appointment at the visa application centre.
