The decision by the Zimbabwean government to allow domestic and international flights to resume, has been welcomed by operators in Victoria Falls.
Domestic travel was permitted from September 10 and international flights are due to resume on October 1. “All travellers will be required to have a PCR COVID-19 clearance certificate issued by a recognised facility within 48 hours from the date of departure, in line with WHO guidelines,” said Minister of Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Monica Mutsvangwa.
Ceo of Africa Albida Tourism (AAT), Ross Kennedy, said the hospitality group was pleased that commercial and charter domestic air services would be active in Zimbabwean skies once more, with several flights having started yesterday (September 10).
AAT operates a portfolio of properties in Victoria Falls – Victoria Falls Safari Lodge; Victoria Falls Safari Club; Victoria Falls Safari Suites; Lokuthula Lodges; and The Boma – Dinner & Drum Show.
“We are collaborating with our air partners in Zimbabwe to get passengers into the skies and enjoying the wonderful and diverse destinations and experiences as soon as possible,” said Ross.
AAT had created fly-in packages for its Victoria Falls properties and was looking forward to welcoming guests at Victoria Falls airport very soon, he said.
Vic Falls virtual tour
Destination Management Company, Bushtracks Africa, has launched a virtual tour of Victoria Falls town.
The educational and interactive tour offers interesting facts about various landmarks and points of interest around the town, as well as information on some of the top restaurants and accommodation options, complete with images and videos.
