Only a few months after sensational headlines claimed Victoria Falls was “drying up”, water levels are at heights last seen a decade ago.
The Zambezi River Authority says the high water levels are due to a significant increase in both rainfall and run-off in the catchment area upstream of Victoria Falls during the current rainfall season. This follows unusually low rainfall during Zambia’s 2018/2019 wet season.
Four times more water is flowing over the Falls, which are at their highest level since 2010!
