Voyager considers new FFP model

15 Nov 2017 - by Dorine Reinstein

SAA Voyager is considering

changing the way travellers

earn frequent yer points,

based on the amount of

money they spend with

the airline rather than

the number of miles they

have travelled. This comes

after Delta Air Lines’

announcement that it will

move to this type of model

in January 2015.

SAA spokesperson, Tlali

Tlali, told TNW that Delta’s

methodology was a fair

proposition, which SAA

may also contemplate in

the future. “Voyager is

currently in the process of

assessing the structural

options of its frequent

yer programme, with the

intent to catapult it into a

model that focuses on the

customer value proposition

and its strategic

objectives. Depending on

the nal structural option,

a similar change could be

considered.”

Tlali added that Voyager

currently already rewarded

customers based on their

spend – 50% of miles

are awarded for deeply

discounted airfares; 100%

of miles are awarded for

high-yield airfares; and

125% of miles are awarded

for business-class travel.
