Construction has begun on Birmingham Airport’s £30 million (R570m) departure lounge extension.
On completion early next year, the lounge will become a two-storey facility with outdoor terrace area, circulation space, seating and toilets, five new catering units and three additional retail outlets.
The extended lounge forms part of a wider terminal transformation project that will cater for the growth in passenger numbers to 18 million a year by 2033.
