Airlink changes St Helena pit stop

From April 7, Airlink will make a refuelling stop in Walvis Bay, Namibia, rather than Windhoek, on its St Helena flight.

The decision to opt for Walvis Bay will allow the carrier to accommodate an additional 11 passengers between Johannesburg and St Helena. The flight is restricted to 87 passengers from Windhoek, due to its 1 706m elevation above sea level and high temperatures. Whereas Walvis Bay is 91m above sea level with cooler weather, which allows for more passengers.

The flight schedule remains the same and is operated by an Embraer 190 E-jet. The return flight from St Helena will operate non-stop.

The flight departs OR Tambo International Airport at 09h00 and arrives at St Helena International Airport at 13h15. The return flight departs St Helena at 14h30, arriving in Johannesburg at 21h15.
