Camp Figtree reopens

31 Mar 2022

After five months of closure following a fire at the central lodge in October last year, Camp Figtree Mountain Safari Lodge, in the Eastern Cape’s Greater Addo area, reopened its doors on March 18.

Rising from the ashes is a completely rebuilt main lodge area with a state-of-the art new kitchen, a more spacious indoor lounge and dining area and an expansive outdoor area. This will allow for more open-air relaxation and outdoor dining during the summer months. 180-degree panoramic views of the Zuurberg Mountains were incorporated into the rebuild to maximise both sunrise and sunset views.

The lodge was purchased by the Oyster Collection during 2021. New owners Nic and Louise Poole have maintained the pre-existing feel of the property in the rebuilt main lodge. The  classic timeless décor  incorporates some signature Oyster Collection elements such as earthy tones, vintage floral prints and dark, polished woods.

“We are beyond excited about the reopening of Camp Figtree Mountain Safari Lodge at a time when hope is high that the COVID-19 challenges, which so adversely affected our industry, are finally behind us,” said Nic.  He said the lodge had reopened for the last two weeks in March with occupancy levels of over 90%.

The reopening offer of R5 699, valid for sale until April 30, includes two nights’ accommodation for two people in a Superior Suite, a guided ranger walk around the camp, and dinner, bed and breakfast daily. This offer is subject to availability at time of booking. T&Cs apply.

The camp is 15km from Addo Elephant National Park and is 100% solar powered and is supplied with fresh mountain water. Both game drives and bush walks are on offer.
