Capri clamps down on tour groups

Italy’s island of Capri has introduced new regulations for tour groups, which will come into force this northern summer.

New regulations will only allow groups capped at a maximum of 40 people to disembark on the island to prevent overcrowding and disturbance in its narrow streets.

For groups of more than 20 people, loudspeakers are no longer permitted. Participants must be provided with headphones or earpieces.

Guides are only permitted to carry a discreet sign or regulation paddle to identify themselves and may not use other items like umbrellas or flags.
