Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) has launched an initiative that allows the city’s hotel and short-term rental guests to complete their accommodation check-in online.
The Contactless Hotel Check-In system allows guests to complete all check-in formalities prior to their arrival, directly from their mobile phones.
Guests can complete their check-in by uploading their essential identification documentation and biometric data. Upon arrival, guests can bypass the usual check-in desk formalities at the start of every stay at participating properties.
The securely held data remains valid until the identification document expires, meaning only a quick authentication, such as through facial recognition, would be required on subsequent visits.
According to the DET, repeat visitors make up almost 25% of total annual visitation to Dubai, making this new tool particularly useful to returning guests.
