Emirates is to invest over US$2 billion (R32,8bn) in enhancing its in-flight customer experience.
The enhancements will include a massive programme to retrofit over 120 aircraft with the latest interiors, and an array of other service improvements across all cabins, starting this year.
Some of the airline’s latest initiatives include elevated meal choices, a new vegan menu, a ‘cinema in the sky’ experience, cabin interior upgrades, more sustainable choices, and specialised hospitality training for crew.
From August, new menus will be served on selected routes in first class; these will be introduced in business and economy class from September 1. The new vegan menu will also be available to passengers this month.
A significant portion of the investment will be used to refurbish aircraft interiors. The cabins are to be retrofitted with new or reupholstered seats, new panelling, flooring and other cabin features.
Every cabin class will be refreshed and new Premium Economy cabins will be installed. Following the upgrades, Emirates will offer 120 aircraft with Premium Economy seating.
