Fast-track hotel development may set world record

IF the 120-room City Lodge Hotel to be constructed on site at Sun Internmational's GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World in Cape Town is completed in November this year - and everything seems to indicate that it will be - it may set the world record of being the first hotel of that size to be built within 11 months.
So reports Andrew Barnes of Corporate Image, the hotel group's public relations company who says this is just one of many firsts for the new hotel.
"It is also the first City Lodge hotel to be designed in the old Cape-Dutch style, to ensure it fits in with the theme of the GrandWest resort, and is the first hotel in the country to feature the City Lodge Room 2000 Plus concept."
According to him, Room 2000 Plus ensures that rooms are considerably larger, including a larger bathroom with a bigger de-luxe bath and shower and feature e-mail and Internet browsing facilities.
Some of the rooms will have panels which allow guests to view the television from the bath.
Other facilities will include a swimming pool, gymnasium and an Internet café.
The City Lodge is one of two hotels to be built on the site, the other is the 40-room Grand Hotel which is a recreation of the historic Cape Town hotel of the same name.
The official opening of the hotel will coincide with the opening of GrandWest in December.
