A draft law leaked by French news site Atlantico confirms that France is planning to reintroduce COVID-19-related requirements at its borders, mandating either proof of vaccination, proof of recovery from the virus, or negative test results from arrivals.
The mandate would apply to all international visitors over the age of 12 until the end of March 2023.
The French Ministry of Health confirms the authenticity of the draft, which they say is still to “be the subject of discussions, before its presentation to the Council of Ministers.”
Despite France’s vaccination rate standing at 78,1% of the population, and 80,4% having received one dose thus far, there has been a recent spike in COVID-19 case numbers. The current seven-day average number of cases stands at 97 582 (at the very beginning of the year, this same average rose to n all-time high of 359 379).
