Fresh French strikes today

Strikes over pension reforms may affect France’s public transport networks today (Thursday, April 13).

The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said: “Trade unions have announced demonstrations and co-ordinated strike action on Thursday, affecting multiple sectors, including transport networks. Industrial action may run for several days. Protests are likely to take place around Friday, April 14, and could occur with little notice. Some protests have turned violent. The protests may lead to disruptions to road travel.”

Airlines have flagged disruption from industrial action by French air traffic controllers. According to TTG Media, on Tuesday, April 11, easyJet said its flying programme was being disrupted, while both Ryanair and Jet2.com have said the threat of action by French ATCs will continue until May.

Eurostar says today’s strike would not impact its timetable, adding that its trains would run normally, but has warned that public transport and train connections may be disrupted.
