A jet fuel shortage in Cuba is forcing airlines to suspend services to the island, with Air France the latest carrier to halt flights to Havana. Air France says it will suspend flights between Paris and Cuba’s capital from March 28 until June 15 due to the ongoing fuel shortages.
On February 8, Cuba’s government notified airlines that jet fuel would not be available at nine airports across the island until March 11. Fuel supplies from Venezuela ended after the US military operation in Venezuela earlier this year, which disrupted oil shipments to Cuba.
Other airlines, including all Canadian carriers and LATAM Peru, have suspended flights to and from Cuba, according to Travel Weekly.
US airlines are maintaining flight schedules as the short distance between the two countries allows airlines to refuel in the US.
