AGENTS can now add a coastal walk experience to itineraries for travellers visiting Northern Ireland’s famous Causeway Coastal Route. The Gobbins coastal walk has opened the doors to a modern cliff path for tourists who wish to experience the coast up close. Only a 40-minute drive from Belfast, the path begins in a narrow peninsula at the start of the world-famous Causeway Coastal Route and close to the famous Blackhead lighthouse. The restored Edwardian attraction has tubular and suspension bridges, a staircase, caves and tunnels carved through the County Antrim basalt coastline. The path is in the vicinity of filming locations for the hit TV show, Game of Thrones. With access by guided tour, the journey begins at a visitor centre, from where walkers are transferred to the cliff path by minibus. Tours run from 10h00 to 15h00 daily and are suitable for people of normal fitness levels. Those not wishing to walk can enjoy the views from the visitor centre and learn about The Gobbins through an exhibition. There is also a coffee shop and gift shop.
