SEA Cliff Resort and Spa
will open the first golf
course in Zanzibar on
December 1.
The Peter Matkovichdesigned
course has taken
nearly two years to design
and construct and showcases
many natural features of
the island, running past
tropical bush, indigenous
trees, coastal dunes and a
mangrove area. Two of the
finishing holes are alongside
the Indian Ocean.
There is also an
international standard practice
facility, which includes a
full-length driving range with
chipping, bunker and
putting greens.
Sea Cliff Resort and
Spa provides a resident
golf professional to assist
enthusiasts to perfect their
swing. Although the course is
open to visitors, hotel guests
get preferential rates and teeoff
times.
The par-70 course includes
short to long par threes, a
variety of par fours (including
a couple of driveable options),
and some fun par fives.
The clubhouse serves as a
halfway house overlooking the
Indian Ocean.
Unless they have booked
a combination golf and
accommodation package, Sea
Cliff Resort guests pay US$80
(R850) for 18 holes and
US$50 (R531) for nine holes.
Walk-in visitors pay US$120
(R1 275) for 18 holes and
US$60 (R638) for nine holes.
To play golf at twilight, a fee of
US$30 (R319) is charged. All
golf balls, clubs and carts are
available for hire at the resort.
Peter says: “Sea Cliff golf
course is designed to give
the hotel guest and visitor
an enjoyable and fun golfing
experience while challenging
their individual skill level – be
they a beginner or scratch
player. A unique golfing
experience for the whole
family
