KQ launches Asante Rewards

Kenya Airways has rolled out its new loyalty programme, Asante Rewards, with redemptions due to begin from October.  

Customers can redeem points for benefits such as reward ticket flights, seat upgrades, extra baggage allowance, priority services, seat selection and more, reports afritraveller.com. 

Ruby is the lowest tier, giving savings on extra checked baggage, discounts on preferred seats and discounts on entry to KQ lounges and direct phone line for customer service. Silver, which comes with SkyTeam’s Elite benefits. These include priority reservations, preferred seating bookings and extra baggage allowance. The Gold and Platinum tiers include SkyTeam Elite Plus status, with benefits such as access to SkyTeam member airport lounges worldwide, and priority baggage-handling on arrival.  

Apart from alliance-wide perks, members also receive Asante perks in terms of miles bonuses, a dedicated direct phone line for customer support and free seat selection. 

The number of miles required to start using benefits is

not yet clear. 

Sign-ups are now open and the last six months of flights can be credited to the user’s account provided it is within two months of opening that account. All customers will be awarded with 1 000 points automatically on enrolment.  

Points will reflect in members’ accounts within 24 hours after flights.
