South Africa’s first commercial 360-degree cinema is on show at the Kruger Station in Skukuza rest camp, Kruger National Park.

The cinema is built like a cylinder with a wrap-around screen inside that gives guests an immersive viewing experience whichever way they are facing on swivelling chairs.

Movies will show during the operational hours of the Kruger Station and focus on conservation stories. Tickets can be purchased at the Grab and Go retail counter.

“We wanted to ensure that guests are able to experience something truly unique when visiting Kruger Station,” says Judiet Barnes, Executive Manager: Brand, Sales and Marketing for Kruger Station.

“The entire Kruger Station is already something special, and now, with the addition of the KRUGER 360 Cinema, it’s become a must-see attraction within the park.”

The launch movies include Rewild and The Big 5, followed by an immersion of the skies in a space safari. The set of shows runs every hour from 09h00 to the last show starting at 19h00.

REWILD is a virtual-reality documentary about six Black rhinos that were chosen to be part of a highly confidential translocation from South Africa to Chad; BIG 5 is an educational movie about Africa’s famous wildlife; and the virtual ‘Space Safari’ experience is conducted by astronaut Helen Sharman.
