Load shedding creates havoc

OR Tambo International was experiencing flight delays yesterday as a result of power outages.
ACSA has issued a statement on the current situation: "While essential services are operated on back-up power, a backlog is being experienced, as some services had to be facilitated manually," says spokesperson Unathi Batyashe-Fillis.
Travellers were asked to be patient and co-operate with officials. They are advised to contact their airlines for flight information.

Travel agencies are already feeling the effects...
"Load shedding is such an inconvenience to the industry. I had booked 10 seats for people traveling this morning (Friday, March 7). We were without power for about two hours, and when we were switched back on the systems were offline. By the time I had to issue the tickets, they were all HX and when I rebooked, they all had to be waitlisted," says one frustrated agent.
Is load shedding affecting your agency?
Yesterday Eskom began load shedding across the country, affecting travel agencies and suppliers nationwide, leaving some of them without email access or telephones.
According to Eskom the load shedding could continue into the weekend and is due to seven days of heavy rain that left coal stocks wet.
