Due to the high incidence
of travel-related fraud in
South Africa, a number of
local airline offices now ask
for additional requirements
over and above an Iata
licence and bank guarantee
before they authorise CIP
issuing authority to an
agent. These requirements
include:
CIP issuance only granted
to agencies that have
been active on BSP for
more than a year;
A signed in-house sales
agreement form between
the agent and airline
confirming expected sales
figures;
A copy of the agent’s Iata
certificate;
A copy of the agent’s bank
guarantee;
A copy of the agent’s
latest audited financial
statements.
Airline representatives also
told TNW that confirmation
of DIP insurance would
favourably influence a CIP
application.
