No 2020 Hajj from SA

A final call has yet to be made by the government of Saudi Arabia on the official cancellation of Hajj this year, but the South African Hajj and Umrah Council (SAHUC) has decided that South Africans accredited for Hajj will not be allowed to proceed.

In a press release, SAHUC explained that a decision was made based on outcomes of a meeting with the DIRCO to discuss the Hajj under the COVID-19 pandemic in South Africa. Borders are closed and will not open for any international commercial travel and this includes pilgrims.

Accredited Hajj operators will release travellers from contracts and will organise refunds, subject to contractual conditions.

All those affected by the decision are advised that they will be placed in a Hajj 2021 queue according to their date and time of application.
