Sandton CC to go even more hi-tech

IN keeping with the pace of the hi-tech world, the Sandton Convention Centre (SCC) in Gauteng, will soon be wireless enabled, which it believes, will suit today’s technologically advanced conferences, events and exhibitions. "We are proud to be one of the most technically advanced centres in southern Africa," says Nomaxabiso Majokweni, executive director of the SCC. The R400m complex has hosted many international events requiring world-class technology and amenities, with the World Summit being its most acclaimed. Siemens Business Services is the provider of total telecommunications solutions and services for the SCC. Mobile and desk telephones with speaker facility; video conferencing; video streaming; web hosting; digital, analogue and ISDN lines as well as ADSL are a few examples of what Siemens has to offer the exhibitor or event organiser. Siemens also provides extensive Internet connectivity and Internet cafes, all supported throughout the centre, in a secure high-speed environment. Every nine square metres of floor space in the SCC’s venues have the capability of supporting at least eight voice and four data points. The SCC’s in-house technical team – Gearhouse SA, offers event staging. With state-of-the-art lighting, audio, structures, power, rigging, audio-visual and daylight screens, Gearhouse upholds the standards of Sandton Convention Centre’s advanced facilities. "Our vision is to establish the SCC as ‘Africa's preferred premier venue experience’, not just a venue or facility. We believe with strong partners such as Siemens and Gearhouse on board, we will achieve this goal," concludes Majokweni. (Miguel de Sousa)
