Halo Space, a Spanish near-space tourism start-up, has unveiled a plan to introduce commercial near-space flights from Saudi Arabia.
According to Breaking Travel News, HALO has completed five successful uncrewed test flights of its Aurora capsule, reaching altitudes up to 37km.
The company plans to construct its first commercial base in Saudi Arabia, with three potential launch sites under review. The location was chosen due to its predictable weather conditions and clear skies.
HALO capsules, designed to offer luxury experiences with swivel seats, giant windows and culinary experiences, are lifted by helium-filled balloons, which do not use combustion engines and emit no carbon emissions.
The company expects its first commercial flight to launch in 2027, following its first manned test flight which takes off later this year.
