Aviation workers in Portugal belonging to the Civil Aviation Workers’ Union (SINTAC) and the Commercial Aviation Staff Union (SQAC) are planning industrial action for three days from August 19-21.
Authorities in Portugal have issued a travel warning advising people not to fly during that period – visitors could be subject to delays or flight cancellations around those dates.
The action comes after the unions are reported to have rejected a proposal by Portugal’s French-owned airport operator, ANA. The unions accused the airport operator of underpaying its staff.
Ryanair, which has many flights to Portugal said it would not be much affected by the threat of industrial action.
