TMCs should be vigilant not to fall prey to the latest scam that is doing the rounds and advise their clients accordingly.
One TMC that was targeted says the scam goes like this: “A man going by the name of Brian contacted the corporate travel co-ordinator at one of my corporate clients’ companies claiming to be one of their suppliers in the US. He wanted the contact details for their travel agent. The co-ordinator gave Brian my details as the company he claimed to be from does supply this client.
“I received a call from Brian requesting urgent flight bookings. He sent me an email with the details. When I saw the flights were to Accra, I immediately thought it was a scam. When I researched the company Brian said he was from, his phone numbers and email address did not correspond with that on the company’s website. As a result, I told him I was not authorised to process the booking.”
TMCs that have been targeted are urging other TMCs and corporates to be aware of this latest scam.
