SENSE of Africa,
Tourvest Destination
Management’s (TDM)
Windhoek wholesaler, has
purchased the majority
stake in Travel Wild,
Botswana, in a move that
expands the company’s
footprint in the region.
The move will give
Sense of Africa an
on-ground presence
in both Botswana and
Zimbabwe, thanks to an
alliance with Travel Wild,
Zimbabwe, through Travel
Wild, Botswana.
“Tourvest Destination
Management, through
Sense of Africa,
has embarked on
an expansion of its
geographical footprint
within Africa, initially
within Botswana and
Zimbabwe,” said
TDM Africa coo, Paul
Brinkmann. “Travel Wild
brings with it a bespoke,
tailor-made passion
that matches well with
our existing credo of
exceeding customers’
expectations.”
Paul says the strategy
will be expanded to
include TDM’s East
African DMC brands in
Kenya, Tanzania and
Uganda, both on a
product as well as service
deliverables level, each
learning from each other.
“The expansion of TDM
into Africa sees its ability
to authentically convince
the customer that we can
add maximum value to
the customer, enhancing
travellers’ experience.
Our expansion allows
us to add value to
the operators while
servicing them in an
increasing amount of
countries,” says TDM
ceo, Martin Wiest. “From
a TDM perspective, the
East African inbound
wholesaler will be
integrated into TDM
product value and
services,” says Martin.
The acquisition follows
the recent announcement
that Tourvest Holdings,
a separate division,
had bought Three Cities
Management, making
Tourvest’s African
Hotels and Adventures
the second largest
tourism hotel and lodge
management company in
South Africa.
