New Lyon-Bordeaux high-speed train

French rail operator, OUIGO, will launch a new high-speed train between Lyon and Bordeaux by mid-2027.

The previous service on this route was suspended in 2013/14.

The service will be a daily round trip that will operate year-round via Massy TGV, Saint-Pierre-des-Corps, Poitiers and Angoulême, taking around five hours.

Trains will depart Lyon around 08h00 and arrive in Bordeaux at 13h00. The return will depart Bordeaux at 14h00 and arrive in Lyon at 19h00.

ÖBB to debut new Railjet train

Austrian rail operator, ÖBB, will debut the first of its retrofitted Railjet fleet on the Koralm Railway, between Vienna and Lienz, on December 12.

The train will be the first of 60 to be upgraded with new seats as well as refurbished first-, second- and business-class cabins.

The €6,1 billion (R121,2 billion) investment will also include new footrests, grab handles and larger fold-down tables. Carriages will also be equipped with new floor coverings and improved passenger information systems.
