Trenitalia receives investment for continental expansion
Trenitalia has partnered with investment firm, Centares, to accelerate its plans to develop a European and cross-Channel high-speed rail service.
The joint venture will support Trenitalia’s €1 billion (R19 billion) investment strategy, which includes plans to establish a train service between Paris and London by 2029 and key cross-border corridors in Europe. The strategy includes a fleet expansion to at least 19 high-speed trains, increasing capacity on key routes and the creation of a new base and maintenance facility near Paris to facilitate cross-Channel operations.
This expands on Centares’ current portfolio of travel investments, including its stake in American Express Global Business Travel and its consortium with Delta Air Lines and Air France-KLM.
