ITA partners with rail operator
ITA Airways has partnered with privately owned rail operator Italo to offer combined air and rail tickets in a single purchase.
From July, travellers will be able to book combined air tickets with Italo rail tickets when they book an ITA Airways flight.
ITA Airways and Italy say the partnership will provide greater fare flexibility to suit different travel needs, alongside a more seamless customer experience through an integrated air and rail service.
Eurostar eyes UK-Swiss connection
Eurostar is planning to launch direct journeys between London and Switzerland, a route that would mark the first ever connection between the two countries.
The cross-Channel rail operator has signed a memorandum of understanding with Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) and French SNCF Voyageurs, agreeing to establish a direct connection between the two countries.
According to Eurostar, the route could open in the 2030s.
Turkey airport metro nears completion
Turkey’s new underground metro line, connecting central Istanbul with Istanbul Airport, is nearing completion as testing on the final section enters its last stage.
According to Türkiye Today, crews are wrapping up tests and commissioning work on the 17,5km Arnavutkoy-Halkali segment, the final link in the 69km route.
The route runs from Gayrettepe, one of Istanbul’s main business hubs, to Halkali on the city’s western outskirts via Istanbul Airport. The system is designed for trains that reach speeds of up to 120km/h.
