Train travel round-up: New overnight train links Hamburg, Munich

German start-up Nox Mobility will launch its first overnight rail service between Hamburg and Munich on March 23, 2027. Services will run thrice-weekly in each direction, calling at Bremen and Augsburg.

Nox is using leased Deutsche Bahn intercity carriages, each configured with 30 suites and sliding doors for additional privacy.

Every passenger will have a Nox Suite, an enclosed space around a large seat that reclines into a two-metre lie-flat position. It also includes a work or dining table, power sockets, and storage for large luggage.

The operator plans to introduce private bedrooms for one or two passengers in 2028 or 2029.

There will be no dining car. Instead, passengers will be able to order paid meals delivered to their seats.

Belgrade-Budapest trains to resume

Passenger trains between Belgrade, Budapest and Vienna are expected to resume on December 13. The planned launch would restore passenger services between Belgrade and Budapest after a seven-year suspension

According to Daily News Hungary, safety tests on the Hungarian section have been completed successfully, but final regulatory approval has yet to be officially confirmed.
