Air Austral has cancelled flights between Réunion and Johannesburg on February 2, February 9, February 13 and February 20.
UU manager in South Africa, Lenél Vining, says the cancellations are in line with its low season, where loads are not sufficient to operate profitably.
“In these times where most airlines are struggling to remain viable, we keep a very careful eye on operating costs. Moreover, the Indian Ocean region is generally subject to bad weather in February and there is a risk of cyclones at this time,” she adds.
The airline will be focusing on marketing plans to boost travel to Réunion in March and April.
