Amadeus scraps TraveluXion

AMADEUS has

discontinued TraveluXion,

a travel and expenses

tool aimed directly at large

corporations, in a move

that has been described as

‘unsurprising’.

Explaining the reasons for the

move, Amadeus gm Southern

Africa, Andrew Hedley, said

although the tool, which was

launched just over a decade

ago, was well received, it

had “a very small and niche

customer base”. “Moreover,

the technology platform on

which TraveluXion was built,

Amadeus e-Travel Management,

has strategically become a

sunset solution globally.”

He said for these reasons,

it was no longer economically

viable to re-engineer the tool.

“We continue, however, to

offer a suite of options for our

clients’ travel and expense

requirements, including

Amadeus Cytric and Amadeus

Corporate Travel,” said Andy.

Jim Weighell, director

of Simpliflyer Business

Travel Technology, said the

discontinuation of TraveluXion

was not a big surprise. He said

the tool was ahead of its time

when it was launched, but with

global expense management

tools entering the market,

the competition had become

increasingly stiff.
