British Airways’ first Airbus A350 has touched down at Heathrow.
The three-cabin A350 features 56 seats in the Club World business-class cabin, the latest World Traveller Plus economy premium cabin with 56 seats, and the World Traveller economy cabin with 219 seats.
During phase one in August, the first aircraft will operate on short-haul routes between London and Madrid. In phase two, starting September, the A350 will begin long-haul routes to Dubai, Toronto, Tel Aviv and Bangalore. During this period, another three A350s will join the BA fleet.
The aircraft features reduced noise levels and ambient lighting intended to mimic the time of day and light outside. There are also higher levels of humidity within the aircraft.
The airline will take delivery of 18 A350s, four of which will join the fleet before the end of the year.
