A Southwest Airlines flight operated by a Boeing 737 Max 8 had to make an emergency landing at Orlando International Airport on Tuesday.
Two pilots flew the aircraft to Victorville, California for storage, but had to perform an emergency landing when the aircraft signalled engine problems ten minutes after take-off. There were no passengers on board, according to Orlando Sentinel.
The incident follows two deadly crashes involving the Max 8 aircraft, the most recent one being Ethiopian Airlines’ flight ET302 on Sunday, March 9. Since the crash, airlines and countries around the world have pulled the aircraft from service. On March 13, Boeing recommended that the global fleet of the aircraft be grounded.
In a recent open letter, Boeing announced that a software update for the B737 MAX would be released soon.
