China introduces digital arrival cards

China will introduce online arrival cards from November 20. Travellers will be able to submit their entry information via the National Immigration Administration (NIA) website, the Government Service Platform, the NIA 12367 app or the WeChat (Alipay) mini programme.

Those unable to complete the form in advance can do so on arrival by scanning a QR code or using smart devices available at airports. Paper arrival cards will still be offered, according to the NIA.

Certain travellers will be exempt from completing the arrival card, including those transiting within 24 hours without leaving the airport’s restricted area, or those entering and exiting on the same cruise ship.
