FlySafair launches Lanseria flights

FLYSAFAIR will soon operate
flights out of Lanseria
International Airport in
Johannesburg, with the first
flights taking off on August 1
to Cape Town and George.
Bookings are already open on
the airline’s website.
Cape Town flights will be
double daily and flights to
George will be on Fridays and
Sundays.
“We’ve listened closely to
what the market has been
asking for and there is a
distinct demand and call for
us to fly from Lanseria,” Kirby
Gordon, FlySafair vp of sales
and distribution, told TNW.
FlySafair will acquire two new
165-seat Boeing 737-400s to
operate the Lanseria routes.
Launch fares to Cape Town
are from R599 one way
(including taxes) and fares to
George are likely to be the
same. Checked-in baggage

costs R150 per bag.
Kirby also said the LCC was
in advanced discussions with
GDS companies about listing
the airline’s inventory on the
GDS. He said the decision was
a way to get closer to local
retail travel agents and the
corporate market and would
make the airline’s product
available internationally.
